Civil society is an essential part of the global response to the grim toll of 1.19 million people killed every year on the world’s roads. NGOs are the eyes, ears, and voices of their communities. They see the problems and they push for solutions.
Road safety NGOs work across all 5 pillars of the Decade of Action: road safety management, infrastructure, safe vehicles, road user behavior, and post-crash response. They advocate and hold their governments responsible, push for commitments and action, raise awareness, train and equip. NGOs are at the forefront of policy change and enforcement to improve the safety of citizens on their daily journeys. They run campaigns and work with their governments, raise awareness, educate, and inform citizens, and collaborate with a range of partners to establish change. See some of our members’ work below.
