Sonia Aguilar joined the Alliance Secretariat in August 2024 as the Regional Coordinator Latin America. She serves as the key focal point for the effective implementation of the Latin American Chapter’s strategy and work plan. In this role, she ensures that the Alliance offerings are relevant to its members by coordinating their feedback and aligning it with global opportunities. She works closely with all members of the Alliance team, providing support in communication, research, capacity building, campaigning, advocacy, policy, and fundraising.
Sonia has been working in sustainable mobility since 2009 as part of the Embarq network at CTS México and in road safety for 12 years, initially as Coordinator and later as Road Safety Manager at the World Resources Institute México. Previously, she worked at Steer, a consultancy firm, as well as in other private sector logistics companies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Transport Engineering and a master’s degree in Transportation Systems.
She is currently based in Guadalajara, Mexico.
