Mobility Snapshot tools

You can choose to do your Mobility Snapshot using either the Star Rating Mobility Snapshot tool or the Mini Mobility Snapshot tool.

Start your Mobility Snapshot by clicking on the buttons below. You can also download and print a PDF copy of the form to preview the questions or complete offline. Note: the downloadable forms are for information only, they cannot be used to submit your Mobility Snapshot.

If you are an iRAP Star Rating for Schools user, you can also use SR4S to complete your snapshot. Please contact us if you plan to do this at committoact@roadsafetyngos.org.

1. Before you start: select an intersection

  1. A place that is widely known and recognizable to people near a popular train/bus station or a public transport hub or a shopping/market area AND
  2. A place that has plenty of pedestrian traffic mixing with motorized vehicles AND
  3. A place that LACKS at least one of the following:
    • formal pedestrian crossing
    • segregated footpath
    • traffic calming, such as a speed hump on approach to the intersection and/or
    • traffic lights for motorized vehicles and/or
    • Speed limit of 30 km/h or less.

2. Choose a Mobility Snapshot tool

Star Rating Mobility Snapshot tool

You can download a printable version of the Star Rating Mobility Snapshot form in ENGLISH, FRENCH, and SPANISH.

We collaborated with iRAP on a comprehensive Mobility Snapshot tool. Users received an internationally-recognized star rating for their Snapshot. You can still use this tool but will no longer receive a star rating for your snapshot.

The Mini Mobility Snapshot tool captures the key elements of the Mobility Snapshot. It is shorter and quicker to complete than the Star Rating Mobility Snapshot tool.

Star Rating Mobility Snapshot

Mini Mobility Snapshot

  • Short form covering only the key elements of the Mobility Snapshots
  • No star rating
  • Can still take part in the global campaign
  • 9 questions (includes sub-questions)
  • Covers the priority interventions and number of pedestrians
  • Upload photographs
  • Should take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete

How to view the Mobility Snapshot tools in another language

The Mobility Snapshot tools use GoogleForms. It is very easy to view these forms in another language. Simply open the form, right-click and select “Translate to …”.

How to use SR4S for your Mobility Snapshot

If you are an iRAP SR4S user, you can use the SR4S app to do your Mobility Snapshot even if it is not in a school zone. Follow these steps to ensure it is marked as a Mobility Snapshot:

  1. Email us at committoact@roadsafetyngos.org to let us know you are using SR4S for your Mobility Snapshot.
  2. When you establish the SR4S project for your Mobility Snapshot, set the name to SR Mobility Snapshot 2024 – Name of the city/area where you conduct the assessments.
  3. Add the intersection location in the schools section.
  4. When adding attributes for the assessed intersection:
    • Record the attributes for the main road, except where specific attributes are requested for the side road, for example “crossing side road”; “intersection side flow”.
    • In the comment section, please note the number of pedestrians using the intersection per hour during peak time using the following calculation:
      • Count the pedestrians around the intersection (crossing and walking along the main and side roads) for 15 minutes during peak time. Please multiply your count by 4 to get the number of pedestrians in peak hour and enter that number. For example, if there are 112 pedestrians in 15 minutes, then 112 x 4 = 448.
    • Upload at least six photos using the following guidelines:
      • Take at least four high resolution photos in good lighting conditions.
      • This should include at least two portrait pictures and two landscape pictures of the whole intersection.
      • Photos should capture the main features of the intersection, sidewalks and crossings, and any other particular issues you noticed.
      • If possible, capture pictures from an elevated position (such as a pedestrian bridge or building) as this provides a better perspective.
      • Make sure the pictures cover all ‘legs’ of the intersection, so the whole road and roadsides are visible.
      • Include key areas where improvements could be made.
