The Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety (the Alliance) is proud to announce the release of the Spanish version of its award-winning Accountability Toolkit. This practical, web-based resource provides concrete steps to help NGOs hold their governments accountable for road safety, contributing to the goal of reducing road deaths and injuries by 50% by 2030, in alignment with the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030.
20% of the Alliance’s member NGOs use Spanish as their primary language. The Spanish version of the Accountability Toolkit will ensure that they can use the Toolkit in a deeper way, strengthening their advocacy. In Latin America and the Caribbean, where the majority of the Alliance’s Spanish-speaking members are based, 110,000 people die and more than 5 million are injured annually in road crashes. The Accountability Toolkit offers NGO Talking Points, tailored checklists, and other tools that help NGOs to advocate for proven interventions that address this challenge.
Lotte Brondum, Executive Director of the Alliance, said, “Earlier last week, the Accountability Toolkit received a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award. The Spanish version of the Toolkit builds on this achievement. By expanding access to this resource, we continue to grow our capacity to help civil society push for real change in road safety.”
The Accountability Toolkit is available for free in Spanish on the Alliance’s website. Translation of the Toolkit has been made possible with support from Michelin through the Latin America Chapter.
